We are delighted to announce that Slimsuit Distributors is bringing Sunseeker, the iconic Australian swimwear house, to Southern Africa.
Anyone who has worked with us over the past decade and a half knows we do not add labels to our portfolio lightly. Since Tarryn Epstein founded Slimsuit Distributors in 2011, the brief has stayed exactly the same: find the brands that genuinely deserve rail space in a South African boutique, and leave the rest. That standard is what put Miraclesuit, Sea Level and Joseph Ribkoff into more than 160 stores nationwide — and it is the same standard Sunseeker had to clear.
It cleared it comfortably.
Why Sunseeker?
Sunseeker is not a new name chasing a trend. It is a heritage house with more than half a century behind it, and that lineage shows in the product.
The brand began on the sand at Scarborough, on the Australian coast, where founders Warren and Vicky McKinney turned their surfing and sailing years in the Caribbean into a swimwear label. Vicky designed from a beachside apartment for women who, like her, actually lived in the water. That origin still runs through the range: these are swimsuits built to be swum in, not simply photographed in.
From there Sunseeker grew into a genuinely international brand, stocked by major department stores and specialist boutiques across several continents, with a trophy cabinet that includes the Australian Fashion Award for Swimwear. It has been covered everywhere from regional press to The Swimwear Yearbook. Warren and Vicky now watch over the business from the Caribbean, with the design and management teams carrying the work forward.
For a Southern African retailer, that heritage translates into something very practical: a brand your customer can trust on sight, backed by fifty-plus years of refinement in fit.
Fit and construction that earns its price
This is where Sunseeker really justified its place with us.
The range is engineered around the reality that no two bodies are the same. Plus-cup styles run through both the bikini tops and the one-pieces, so a D-cup-plus customer is not pushed to a token corner of the range. Tummy-control one-pieces, underwire and bandeau tops, high-waisted and full-coverage bottoms, and a proper swimdress offering all sit within the same collections rather than being siloed off.
Sunseeker also has deep roots in separates — the ability to mix a top and bottom across sizes, which remains one of the most reliable ways to fit a real customer standing in a real fitting room.
Fabric quality is the other half of the story, and it is the half your customer notices in month six rather than week one. Sunseeker builds to last, with high-stretch fabrications that hold their shape and recover properly through a full season.

A sustainability story your customer will ask about
Southern African shoppers are asking harder questions about what they are buying, and Sunseeker has an answer ready. The brand uses 90% recyclable fabric across the swimwear collection — a substantive commitment rather than a single capsule launched for a press cycle.
For boutiques whose customers care about provenance, that is a conversation you can have with confidence.
The Sunseeker aesthetic
The design signature is confident colour and print — tropical florals, graphic stripe, and textural solids — balanced by a strong essentials programme in clean solid colour. Recent collections such as Wild Hibiscus, Someday Stripe, Waterlily and Coco Cool show the range: a customer can buy a statement print or a quiet, beautifully cut black one-piece from the same collection and both feel like the same brand.
It is a proposition that suits the South African beach and poolside customer almost exactly.
Available now through Slimsuit Distributors
Sunseeker joins a portfolio that we have built carefully, brand by brand, for fifteen years. We take on labels we would be happy to sell in our own store — because we did exactly that, alongside Sea Weeds in Constantia Village, and the instinct has not changed since.
